In this talk, Jana Lasser explores why academia is particularly vulnerable to power abuse and why speaking up is often far more difficult than simply “setting boundaries.” Drawing on real-life cases and research, she examines how power asymmetries, insecure employment and academic incentives can enable abusive behaviour—and why existing reporting mechanisms often fail those affected.
