This Workshop introduces you to the basics of project management (PM).
Overview
Following a “learning from the big projects, applying it to small and individual projects” approach, this workshop offers researchers a practical introduction to the BASICS of project management. Participants explore foundational concepts of project planning, structuring, and development—always with a focus on applicability to their own research contexts.
A central element of the workshop is the Project Canvas, an intuitive method for structuring and visualising projects. Participants will work in small groups to design a project canvas based on a mini-project and will receive feedback.

- gained an overview of the key principles of project planning
- adapt large-scale project strategies to smaller, individual projects
- practised structuring projects using the Project Canvas
- explored practical tools and techniques to manage time, risks, and collaboration
- developed a stronger foundation to plan and execute research projects within or beyond academia
This Workshop is for Pre- and Post-doc researchers affiliated with a Ludwig Boltzmann Institute, a university or research organization in Austria who want to strengthen their project planning skills and apply a structured yet flexible approach to managing their work.
