Get practical skills for navigating challenging situations and resolving conflicts successfully.
This interactive one-day workshop is designed to support research leaders in recognizing, analyzing, and constructively addressing conflicts within their teams and organizations.
Conflicts are inevitable in academic environments – whether between team members, across hierarchical levels, or in collaborative projects. What makes the difference is how leaders respond. This training equips participants with the tools to act early, responsibly, and strategically.
Participants will:
- Explore different types and dynamics of conflict in research settings
- Reflect on their personal conflict style and behavioral patterns
- Practice de-escalation strategies and constructive intervention techniques
A key element of the workshop is understanding the leader’s role as a “conflict seismograph” – someone who can identify early warning signs, interpret underlying tensions, and take timely action. Participants will clarify their leadership responsibilities in conflict situations and define clear do’s and don’ts of conflict intervention.
The training also addresses how individuals without formal leadership authority can engage in conflicts responsibly and negotiate solutions without undermining managerial accountability.
Through practical exercises, case discussions, and guided reflection, participants will gain concrete tools for handling difficult interpersonal and structural conflicts in research environments.
